IKEA Toddler Bed | Curtains

New addition to LX's room

Finally got down to fixing her new bed during our "quarantine" weekend. We bought it about a week ago and lugged it back home ourselves to save on delivery. #cheapoparents
IKEA toddler bed
situation then.

she was whining non stop because she wants me to sit beside her which was quite impossible.
She is outgrowing the small cot and often hitting her head/legs against the cot railing in the middle of the night. There is just too little space for her to toss and turn. We contemplated and initially are deciding over getting just a mattress, bumper bed or a toddler bed.
Bumper bed are good as it is on the floor but is a little too big for my liking. It takes up too much space in her tiny room and we don't find it very well cushioned as compared to normal bed thou hubs like the idea of it and almost at the verge of getting it.
As for just a mattress, I find it troublesome having to lift up and down the mattress on a daily basis if we wants to clean the floor and wanted to get a bed frame for it. Chanced upon a customised bed frame on TB and decided to place order cause it was under prime shipping but alas the order was being cancelled by the seller!

#dayrehomes #dayrehome
the one that i ordered from #taobao looks something like this but without the cot railing in white colour. quite liking the legs of this bed here and the height seemed just nice for LX to go up and down by herself. was a little disappointed that it was cancelled cause it looks really nice in the photo and I thought it will put a stop in hunting for LX's bed. Ok enough of ranting.
this is the one who fixes all the furniture in LX's room.

#LXroom
the one who suffer from bruises and cuts while trying to fix the bed but never complain. at times I wonder how can he be so patient with everything.
figuring out how to make this extendable wood works to fit the right size. this took the longest of all the fixing.
We lugged back this bed cot railing from #kmart from our Perth holiday. Finally putting it into good use thou it didn't fit quite well but it still works.

We didn't know that the flat surface that hold the mattress bed must be the same level as the bed frame in order for this cot bed rail to lift up and down. The one we got is not the same level so we can't. I don't know if you get what I meant!
Anyway, the hub got this weird habit of buying big items overseas. We bought a V6 Dyson handheld vacuum in Perth too. During our honeymoon in Switzerland which happens to be only our first stop, he lugged a Nespresso coffee machine and carried it throughout from Swiss > Paris > London > Liverpool and back to London. 😅
look who is so excited about her new bed! she climbed straight onto it. kept saying "bed bed"! then she got a little frustrated cause she can't get down, the bed cot railing is blocking her.
rolling around.
figuring out how to get down.

eventually we moved it more to the right side so that there are still a little space for her to get up and down by herself and still help to prevent her from falling off the bed in the middle of the night.
she had already sleep on her new bed for three nights. so far so good, no more knocking herself against the bed and she loves the big space!
Curtains
this is on my top priority list to do - get rid off the wooden venetian blinds from LX's room. I will never ever do blinds for bedrooms anymore in the future. But again, I didn't quite include her in the initial renovation's plan. We did curtain for our master bed room thou! It is quite annoying to see the lights when you are soundly asleep or trying to sleep so I reckon she felt the same too.
wanted to go for pink but felt I needed something more neutral just in case I get sick of the colour. the sales person recommended this blush grey which is perfect, it comes with a tinge of blush pink with grey and the colour actually changes slightly under different lighting.

so this is blush grey with white day light curtain. I could do without the day light actually but it looks way better with day light curtain 😅
the sales recommended us to pair it with blush day light curtain. i couldn't quite visualise it as a whole so opted out for this and went with the earlier combination.
installation day - this is the first time that I'm seeing a lady coming along for installation, usually the co. will just send the installer. all in all their service is good.
the before.
the after photo when the the curtain is up. curtain do make a whole lot of a difference to bedroom. looking more cosy now. Yay! I think we are almost done with upgrading LX's room. Hopefully!
