happy breastfeeding week!

milk schedule - been latching her since day 1 for every 2.5 to 3 hourly and the most used baby item for csec mum like me will be brest friend nursing pillow. It helps to provide support to hold the baby in position for BF without exerting pressure on the stomach and wound. Have been using it since the day I returned from hospital.

Thankful that she latches so well and even so when she is sleeping she still suckle with all her energy. Thou it is tiring for me and each time when she latch on for the first few minutes is quite painful but totally worth it to see her milk drunk face which I have yet to capture. 

Her face has become slightly rounded than the first week too. Life’s good when you just have to eat sleep poo and repeats!

We are afraid that in the long run she will only prefer latching hence decided to let CL bottle feed her for one of the feed in the day. Normally I will just pump x1 a day and combine the excess to freeze over two days. Milk bags from boots comes in handy and is really cheap as compared to other brands in the market. She is taking about 80ml at 11 days, slowly trying to increase it to 100ml as she usually start crying for milk roughly at the 2 - 2.5 hours mark.

following jie jie we bought NUK milk bottle for her. as expected for the first time she was crying every few minutes during bottle feeding, guess because the milk teats is a little hard as compared to nipples and she is not used to it. It does get better the following days, she doesn’t whine as much and no we didn’t change milk bottle or try other teats. #cheapomama baby just have to adapt to whatever we give!

Upang sterilizer come into handy. Not too bad an investment, it sterilize and dry the pump parts without a single drops of water droplets. I’m quite amazed by it considering the fact that I’m using a 10 year old technology Pigeon sterilizer back then. lol

The next best buy item would be this Haakaa silicone breast pump as recommended by my godsent neighbours. While latching or pumping one side, you can use this to collect any letdown on the other side. Like many said BM are liquid gold! so just use this instead of letting it go to waste. Downside is sometime it stay at the boobs without me holding but sometime it doesn’t. Not sure why? And this can be sterilize using the UV sterilizer too.

Who says BM is free? Actually don’t think they are free! Need so many gadgets, time, effort to get it out of the body and store the milk. 😅
